Ruthie Larson Update. (My Little sister) Car accident Feb 2, 2014. I had surgery to remove the wires from my jaw and it went well. My gums were growing over the wires on one spot in my mouth. They had to cut it out and I have stiches in that area. The rest of my mouth feels pretty good. They put a patch behind my ear to help with nausea. I am very grateful for that. You would think that the first thing I did when I got home would be …EAT. Nope, the first thing I did was brush my teeth. I have been using a Water Pick to clean the outside of my teeth, but I couldn’t do anything to get the inside of my teeth. Although my mouth does not open very wide yet, the head on my electric toothbrush is small so I was able to brush the inside of my teeth a little bit. I ate mashed potatoes, applesauce and an egg white yesterday. They were good, but I still do not feel like eating much. I lost about 18 pounds over the last 8 weeks. I am pretty sure that my stomach has shrunk. It will be a happy day when I feel good enough to go to Panera Bread and have my favorite salad. Four weeks ago I stopped taking morphine and have had no pain medication, not even Tylenol. I normally get headaches on a regular basis. Changing weather and rain often trigger a bad headache. Although my broken face creates a lot of discomfort, I have not had a headache bad enough to require medication. I thank the Lord daily when I wake up without a severe headache. That has been a real answer to prayer. The Plastic Surgeon told me that it may take up to a year for the bone, muscles and nerves in my face to heal and the numbness and pain to go away. I have a long way to go and I still need healing in my right eye. I am so thankful for all of the prayers that have covered me during this time. I am grateful that “God’s got this”. Ruthie
