Ryan Evans Sky Sports Living For Sport Student of the Year Award: ‘Highly Commended’ Entries Ryan, who struggled academically in his early school days, overcame low self-confidence and shyness to re-engage with education following a Sky Sports Living For Sport project that helped change his life and saw him become a role model for others. Ryan has been recognised for his for his efforts by Neath Port Talbot CBC by awarding him inspirational individual award 2013 and more recently, a highly commendable award 2013-2014 by Sky Sports Living for Sports. Sky Sports ambassadors David Beckhem and Jessica Ennis-Hill presented Ryan with his award in London in May 2014. Initially Ryan’s involvement in the project, which uses sporting activities and healthy eating advice to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase self-belief, was minimal and he couldn’t even attend a residential field study due to his lack of confidence in being away from home. But following a visit from Sky Sports Living For Sport Athlete Mentors, his confidence grew and he began to interact and overcome personal barriers, attending the field study a year later. His sheer hard work and determination, an improved attendance at school, now makes him the kind of person who leads by example. Ryan is currently a full time student at Neath Port Talbot College which has been helped by taking part in the Sky Sports Living for Sports Project.
