Called the Red House, the integrated project aims to revitalise the district. The Red House sits on Wakaf or endowment land, under the Wakaf of Sheriffa Zain Alsharoff Bte Syed Mohamed Alsagoff. It features 42 residential units, commercial units and a heritage gallery. It is jointly developed by WRH Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of WAREES Investments Pte Ltd and the trustee of the Wakaf. Launching the development was Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim. Dr Yaacob said: “This is an important effort by MUIS and WAREES to enhance the value of our Wakaf properties. As you all know, the nature of Wakaf is really to increase the yield so we can spread the yields to more beneficiaries.
