S-H-O-C-K-I-N-G! ROCHAS OKOROCHA TO DUMP APC, IF NGIGE LOSE ANAMBRA ELECTION. Indications have emerged that the governor of Imo state, CHIEF ROCHAS OKOROCHA, may dump his party, the newly formed APC if his candidate, Dr Chris Ngige, loses the Anambra guber poll coming up on saturday. Sources close to Government House in Owerri who wish to remain anonymous hinted Ofun World News that the decison by Okorocha to dump his party if Ngige is defeated was arrived at during a meeting the governor had with his party stalwarts at an undisclosed venue in the state. The fear of the governor stemmed from the declining popularity of his party in the south east and the glaring antagonism of Igbos to the party, seen as a strange and religious-based party. It will be recalled that Okorocha, who was elected under the platform of APGA, an Nd‘Igbo political party, recently dumped the party for what is percieved in Igbo land as an “alien“ party. This single decision by the governor has not gone down well with majority of Igbos who feel betrayed and sold out to “strangers“. Asked which political party the governor would (re)join if he decamped, our informant said they had not decided on anyone yet but would either be PDP or APGA “since he had been there. We have put all our structures at the Local Government and Ward levels on red alert. We are moving out immediately if we lose the Anambra election“, he stated, adding that “our principal is a loner in Igboland, we will not take any chance“. As at the time of filing this report, campaigns have reached top gear in Anambra state for the saturday election. The key contenders include Obaino (APGA), Ubah (LP), Ngige (APC) and Nwoye (PDP). One of these persons will be elected on November 16, 2013 to succeed governor Peter Obi.
