S.W.E.A.T. Athlete of the Month Deven Jackson 6th Grade We had the pleasure of coaching this young man at the Bret Cooper Academic All American game last week in Dallas, Texas. Deven is an incredibly talented, driven, smart & funny kid...with a story. Two years ago Deven was rushed to the hospital with flu like symptoms. After routine testing, his parents were given the worst possible news...Meningitis and a less than 10% chance to survive. Deven survived. Challenges were in his future though. Due to infection, both Devens legs were amputated 6 inches below the knees. With his family and entire community behind him, he learned to walk again. He learned to run again. And finally he played football again. Our hats are off to this young man with a smile and heart bigger than his story. He is Elite.
