SABRA AND SHATILA Three thousand Palestinian refugees in the Sabra and Shatila camps on the outskirts of Beirut, were slaughtered between 16 and September 18, 1982 by the Christian Phalange of Elie Hobeika, Lebanese militia that operated under the direct supervision of the Army Israel, and logistical support. It was a bloodbath against defenseless people. About 350 thousand Palestinians, displaced from their land in the Galilee, had sought refuge in Lebanon. In Sabra and Shatila lived in subhuman conditions, about 18 thousand Palestinians.
