SACNA (South African Clinical Neuropsychological Association) has two major events planned for the remainder of 2014: In May 2014 we will be hosting a very important and relevant workshop presented by Prof Ann Edwards, entitled Psychometric Assessment in the South African Cross-Cultural Context. In addition to presenting the most recent preliminary norms and their application, Prof Edwards will also address delegates on the most common methodological flaws in the identification of neuropsychological impairment following brain injury. Also included in the workshop fee are booklets collating the results of the a recent series of local norming studies, which will be handed out to those who attend. These workshops will be held in Cape Town on 9 May 2014 and Johannesburg on 16 May 2014. An electronic brochure providing more detailed information on these workshops, as well as the registration form, are attached. From 6-9 August 2014, SACNA is hosting its 14 Biennial Neuropsychology Conference, held this year in Johannesburg. We have secured three international keynote speakers in addition to the local platform presentations that will be offered. Two exciting pre-conference workshops will also be offered with topics that include principles and concepts germane to TBI expert witness work and medico-legal practice for professionals, as well as a workshop focussing on the assessment of neuropsychological deficits and disorders and new developments and measures in this regard. We also attach the electronic version of our second announcement and call for papers and registration form here. Please note that the closing date for the submission of abstracts is on 28 March 2014.
