SACRIFICE YOUR FUTURE OF THE PLEASANT OF THE MOMENT SACRIFICE OF BIRTHRIGHT Birthright - A right, possession, or privilege that is ones due by birth. Heritage refers to something inherited from the past. Genesis 25:27-34 27 The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was content to stay at home among the tents. 28 Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob. 29 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. 30 He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.[a]) 31 Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.” 32 “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” 33 But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright. There are some of the moments that we are sacrificing our future for the pleasant of the moment or a bowl of soup for your future 1) When you are blind to the values of life Birthright and heritage is important God as shown in the story of Esau & Jacob . It is important because of inheritance, heritage , originality and God’s position to them. Jacob gave up his birthright for a “bowl of stew” What “bowl of stew” we Fijian have now that we want to surrender our heritage and birthright. Is our love of prestige, wealth, prosperity and prominence have surrender our birthright in the expenses of these temporal things. 2) When we are ruled by our appetite rather than the Wisdom of God Why don’t Esau fix his own bowl of soup . He want it easy, immediate to meet his needs. We live in a materialistic age , the advertising and propaganda makes it glamorous, shining, masculine or the latest thing to do or have of all the wealth and prosperity . All these things just poison the mind . Since we are living in a materialistic world we want to have this , got to have this, we want this so we surrender our birthright and heritage for the pleasant of the moment and forgot the consequence of our decision to our future generation. 3) If we are rule by our appetite (money, wealth, developments, technology, prosperity, success, greed, envy..etc.. , we make foolish decision. As Christian, we have a self control spirit which makes our decision yield to God’s wisdom or what is in stored for our heritage in future. We must live to the Wisdom of God contemplating the consequence of surrendering our birthright. If you are blind to the values of life, you will yield to the appetite of these materialistic values in the expenses of your birthright. 4) When we require Immediate Gratification If only we have known the consequence of our decision to our people and our children, we wouldn’t take the option of surrendering our birthright just to have these gratifications of these promises of having these materialistic wonder, prosperity and wealth. We want everything now and we might lose the best in the future for our people. We want to live in the world now for our own self desire without considering the consequence for our people in future. What are the consequence of surrendering our birthright and heritage? We will come up of excuses why we should surrender our birthright and heritage for this moment pleasure of gaining freebies and developments. 5) When We Focus on Temporal Things rather than the Lasting Consequence. We are susceptible to make grave mistake that will affect our life or our future generation when we are in the emotion mood of H.A.L.T. When you are Hungry, Angry, Lonely and Tired. At this moment we feed our mind with things that are temporal such as freebies, wealth, money, developments that you forgot your inheritance in this beautiful land called Fiji. Are you ready to surrender this birthright for the “bowl of soup” that comes in your pleasant of the moment? 6) When You Have No Respect For Spiritual Things and What God has destined to the people’s birthright When You Have No Respect for Spiritual Things and What God has destined to the people’s birthright, people make terrible things or decision that are consequential to their future stability and to their future generation. For Esau surrendering of his birthright to Jacob result in many consequences to Jacob’s household 7) When You Fail To Consider The Future Consequence A famous quote reaffirmed this understanding of failing to consider the future consequences of our decision of selling our birthright to a “ bowl of soup” in One sin leads to another , one mistake leads to another and one lie leads to many lies Don’t make foolish decision based on your appetite, wrong sense of temporal values, your ungodly attitude, your materialistic desire of the things of God as your birthright and heritage. Don’t make decision on things compared to the everlasting impact on our birthright and heritage. Is anything you value that you want to surrender your birthright at present, so that you future generation will consequential regret due to your foolishness and your temporal crave for a bowl of soup.. What is that you to have to bring you happiness, that you have to forego your birthright and heritage? What is you should have, that you are ready to put your future generation in jeopardy? Why this “ bowl of soup” is so important , that you are ready to sell your birthright for some freebies? BIRTHRIGHT QUOTE “Ive continued to recognize the power individuals have to change virtually anything and everything in their lives in an instant. Ive learned that the resources we need to turn our dreams into reality are within us, merely waiting for the day when we decide to wake up and claim our birthright.” Anthony Robbins quotes (American advisor to leaders) INHERITANCE QUOTE “In the world of the Bible, one’s identity and one’s vocation are all bound up in who one’s father is. Men are called “son of” all of their lives (for instance, “the sons of Zebedee” or “Joshua, the son of Nun”). There are no guidance counselors in ancient Canaan or first-century Capernaum, helping “teenagers” decide what they want “to be” when they “grow up.” A young man watches his father, learns from him, and follows in his vocational steps. This is why “the sons of Zebedee” are right there with their father when Jesus finds them, “in their boat mending the nets” (Mark 1:19-20). The inheritance was the engine of survival, passed from father to son, an economic pact between generations. To lose one’s inheritance was to pilfer for survival, to become someone’s slave.” ― Russell Moore, Adopted for Life: The Priority of Adoption for Christian Families and Churches.. So my fellow Fijians, Let put God back to our Nation, Lets claim back our Fiji to our people for the people by the people... Vote Wisely ..Vote Democracy....Vote Freedom....VOTE SODELPA
