SAFETY #71 Philippians 3:15 -21 - “Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” But the Greek text tells us more “… and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” Grace, grace, grace, and more grace. We don’t have to be perfect, the English sense, at all, ever, because God is still fulfilling Philippians 2:13 in us. He’s always faithful, taking care of business. I just mentioned to a new friend here that back in 1975, I took a wrong turn, right in the middle of going to Moody Bible Institute. The path I took is best described in Philippians 3:18 as living as an enemy of the cross. We’ll investigate some things there in just a bit. But the point is that God is still in the perfecting business, as Paul told us in Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”!!! He was still in control, sovereign, and my shenanigans didn’t throw his plan off at all!!! He just kept on keeping on. God planned His work before the foundation of the world and has been working His plan all along!!! Still is, regardless how things look down here. Have you ever thought what a miracle looks like??? Ok, Jesus walks up to a guy who is covered with leprosy. He says, Go see the priest. Over there some few feet away, the leper notices he’s clean, no leprosy. What would it have looked like in ultra slow motion filmed at 1,000 frames per second, let’s say. We line up 10,000 frames of film on our work table, figuring it took 10 seconds from Jesus’ pronouncement to the guy realizing he’s healed. At which frame will we see a change? Frame #827? … or at frame #19, or what? Surely by frame #692 we’d see something happening??? But what if at frame #9,418 we see he’s healed? In frame #9,417, he’s covered in leprosy, but, in 1/1000th of a second, he’s healed. Ok, so we go film another healing and use ultra high speed film and camera lens to film it at 10,000 frames per second. Where will we see it happen? Will we see it happen? Is it possible to even catch Him doing it??? Ok, now start filming all of a person’s life way out at 1,000 frames a second. Here we see him at Bible school and he’s slipped off the narrow way. Where will we see it actually begin? Nobody knew about it until he actually committed that heinous sin, but we know that isn’t where it started. But God knew even before he had that first scrap of a thought that wasn’t in The Mind of Christ. And He had been at work all along, actually before the foundation of the world, right as He formulated His plan. Where in all that will we see God at work in him, both to will and to do of His good pleasure? And in what inconceivable ways will we be able to see that He has been working the motions of the electrons over there 1,000 miles away in conjunction with that galaxy 4,000 light-years over yonder and everything else together for that one person’s benefit? AND will we be able to see that He hasn’t missed a single stroke to accomplish the same thing with every other saint in the world for all 6,000 years since He created the world. AND will we be able to see any of all the uncountable operations He has accomplished to establish His own glory in and through all of these other processes??? Boggles the mind doesn’t it? AND He kept that asteroid from hitting the Earth, too, the other day AND He managed to get that sparrow from that tree over to that tree over there even when it was sick with that avian virus so that it could eat that one bug that would have … … … and so on! We must conclude that What a mighty God we serve!!! Can I hear an Amen? Has anyone got a Hallelujah that you just can’t contain?
