SALINE FIDDLERS Come hear them Monday at 1 PM Tecumseh District Library and Tecumseh Senior Center present The Saline Fiddlers on Monday afternoon, August 12, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. This special concert will be held at the Tecumseh Senior Center, which is located at 703 East Chicago Boulevard. The Saline Fiddlers will combine music, song and dance from the American folk fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing and Celtic traditions. The Saline Fiddlers have set the standard for extracurricular music programs in the U.S. The group began in 1994 with a simple idea: the introduction of an alternative style of music education to public school students. This has grown into a model of instruction and motivation that is being emulated across the nation. Since their inception, the Fiddlers have performed more than 1,000 times, including performances at the White House and in several foreign countries. The Saline Fiddlers are a nonprofit music education and performance organization supported by volunteers, donations, recording sales and performance fees. The concert is also sponsored with Herrick Manor and Tecumseh Place. Tecumseh District Library invites all to this special concert. This musical event is free and open to the public. For additional information, call Chuck Harpst, Reference/Local History Librarian, at the library, 423-2238. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday (October through April) 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The library’s web site can be accessed at tecumsehlibrary.org.
