SAMS congratulates Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) for the launch of the Syria Mapping Project, an interactive tool that documents attacks against health professionals, facilities, patients, and transport in Syria. This online map contains comprehensive, real time, quantitative and qualitative data highlighting more than 150 targeted attacks against the medical community in Syria. These crimes are egregious violations of medical neutrality – the principle that obligates states and armed groups to protect medical personnel in both times of war and peace and compels health care providers to treat all individuals regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
