SAN ANTONIO DE PADUA: He was born in Lisbon at the end of the 12th century. Very young he joined the canons regular of St. Augustine in Lisbon and then requested the transfer to Coimbra. Here he met the Franciscans who travelled to Morocco, whose relics looked after his martyrdom. Eager to spread the faith among Muslims and he himself suffer martyrdom, he joined the order of Friars Minor. Failed his attempt to give his life for Christ: fell ill in Morocco, and the ship that was returning to his homeland went to Sicily. It was meant to deploy their apostolate in regions of the South of France and Italy, infested by heresy, and to this set, after a period of eremitical life, when Providence wanted to highlight the talents that provided you. He was the first Professor of theology of the order. He wrote sermons filled with science, elegance, and anointing. He died in Padua June 13, 1231. After his death, the Lord multiplied miracles due to his intercession. Gregorio IX canonized him in 1232 and Pius XII proclaimed him doctor of the Church in 1946-prayer: Almighty and everlasting God, you who you have given to your people in the person of san Antonio de Padua, a distinguished preacher and a powerful intercessor, grant us to faithfully follow the principles of the Christian life, so we deserve to have you as a protector in all adversities. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. L.M.CH.A. (Translated by Bing)
