SAN JOSE: The calm before the storm should aptly describe the next - TopicsExpress

SAN JOSE: The calm before the storm should aptly describe the next two days, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions and temps in the mid 60s. On a side note, watch out for Tule fog out in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys during the overnight and early morning hours, Dense Fog advisories have been posted for the Sacramento area overnight. Clouds increase Wednesday afternoon and it looks like the rain should be moving into San Jose, Tracy and Sacramento by early Thursday morning. This is going to be a slow moving storm, and its going to be an intense storm, Im seeing echoes on the GFS surface model data that are in the red, an intensity I have not seen in a California Storm in recent memory. QPF is showing that between now and 4pm Saturday rainfall totals may be 3 to 4 inches in the cities with totals approaching 6 to 7 inches in mountain areas (mainly the Sierras and far northwestern California). With the intensity of this Low, high winds are also a concern, a HIGH WIND WATCH has been issued for San Jose for Dec 10, 10pm to Dec 11th 4pm. Again, this is going to be the strongest Pacific Storm the area has seen in awhile, be careful out there. SIERRA NEVADA: WINTER STORM WATCH between Dec 10th 6pm to Dec 12th 6pm above 5500ft. 10-20 inches possible at 6000ft and 2 to 3 ft possible along the summits! Would not be surprised if this is upgraded to a WINTER STORM WARNING within the next 12 hours. Best advice I could tell you is to stay out of the Sierras during this time period! Whiteout conditions are likely and so are road closures!
