SAVE SECOND WARD, et al....Please attend this Saturdays Chorizo Menudo Breakfast, at El Tiempo Cantina, the almost new eatery on Navigation, high Second Ward, to see a reality show, as our new Constable from Precinct 6, Henry Martinez, will continue to reach out to the community and outline his plans for restoring trust and confidence of the people in the Precinct 6 community. Reyes, and yours truly will be addressing the crowd on a variety of issues as well, such as our fight to SAVE Second WARD, and a NEW initiative to persuade the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to bring TEJANO music to Go Tejano Day, as if the Rodeo doesnt understand what TEJANO is all about; apparently the Rodeo thinks TEJANO means money, big big money, and not much else... WHERE: 2814 Navigation Boulevard, Houston, TEXAS 77003, 9AM FREE BREAKFAST, free admission, open to the public Y despues, y como si fuera poco, SAVE Second WARD, the ongoing struggle to reclaim and save our Barrio, will continue the morality play, with a new idea on what to do with James Bute Park, at nearby TBH; hopefully John Locke, the voice of Reason, Durrel K. Douglas, Mario A. Salinas, Ivan Sanchez,and other young up and coming activists will join us for both events, to learn and join our fight. THAT wouldnt be TOO bad. WHERE: Talento Bilingue de Houston, 333 S. Jensen, 77003, 11AM TBH is located nearby to El Tiempo, and we will be presenting updates, and a NEW plan for the Park to turn it into a living history center, instead of what Harris County Commissioners Court would prefer, and that is sell it outright to townhome developers, as if we need more of that crap in Second Ward. I will TRY to behave at both events. There has been a break of sorts, as the Superneighborhood #63, the official representative body of Second Ward, has decided to back a very dubious plan to have the Buffalo Bayou Partnership acquire Bute Park, which would cook our collective goose fosure, so come to the second event at 11AM, to see concrete (no pun intended) plans to stop Steve Radack, Dave Walden, John Knox, Andy Icken and those type of predators from destroying our hoods ability to maintain stability and cohesiveness in the historic Second Ward. So it will be a busy Saturday, with residents, Brown Berets, Alacranes, Pachucos, Cholas, Reps from the offices of Carol Alvarado, El Franco Lee, Rodney Ellis,MY State Senator Sylvia Garcia, even Dave Walden may show, if he is sober enough to attend, plus regular folks too. My good friend Ted Olberg, investigative reporter for ABC13 might even show, he seems to be interested in Second Ward now, hey, much of what ABC13 does, is a mystery...Come join us, get a free breakfast, dont be apprehensive at all the fear and loathing there will be, after all, we Meskins dont bite, and we are the friendly minority !!
