SCAM ALERT! I was just approached by someone who is attempting to run a scam in the north end of New Bedford. A man approached me at the parking lot of Ashley Boulevard and Wood Street. He told me he was a part of a program called Self Starters Inc and asked me if I wanted to buy a magazine subscription or give a donation to the program which he said was based out of Chicago. That sounded strange to me. After he walked away I Googled Self Starters which revealed to me as a scam in a few other states like Texas and Florida. He was headed towards Voc Tech and I know there are more residences in that area.
