SCAM Alert Malicious actors have been sending emails, purportedly from Amazon, to trick users into revealing sensitive account information or install malicious software on the users system. Below are some tips on how to recognize this type of scam and protect yourself from becoming a victim. What Can I Do? Be cautious about all emails you receive. Consider emails with grammatical or typographical errors to be suspicious. If it appears to be a phishing email, do not respond. Delete it. You can report the email directly to Amazon by sending it as an attachment to stop-spoofing@amazon. Do not click on any links or attachments contained in the suspicious email. Some emails may include a link that appears to take the user to their Amazon account, but will actually redirect to a malicious website. When in doubt, go directly to the Amazon website. Legitimate Amazon website domains always end with amazon. Do not enter personal information via an email. Amazon will never ask for sensitive or personal information such as: * Social Security Numbers or Tax Identification Numbers * Bank account information, credit card number, PIN number, credit card security code, or updates to any of these * Answers to personal security questions, such as your mothers maiden name * Your password If a suspicious email prompts you to unsubscribe, do not. Many malicious actors will use this process to create a list of valid, working email addresses. Use the features in your Amazon account to track orders, as this is the most reliable source.
