SD 13 DFL Central Committee members and friends: We have reviewed the results of our Senate District 13 Golf Scramble/Social that was held last Saturday, July 27 in Cold Spring. I am so pleased to report that it was a resounding success, both financially and otherwise: everyone there said they had a wonderful time! Twenty-five golfers played in the scramble, and about ten more attended the splendid cook-out at the home of Kathryn Pearce and John DeSantis, adjacent to the River Oaks Course. Among our guests were MN State DFL Vice-Chair Marge Hoffa and her husband, 6th CD Chair and Vice-Chair Bill Usher and Cathy Harrison, 1st CD Chair and Democratic National Committeewoman Lori Sellner, two- time former House candidate Rob Jacobs, and former SD 13 DFL activists (now in the TC metro area) Boots Froyen and Don & Kathy Schultz. Our SD owes a hearty salute to John DeSantis for offering this event idea last spring and then doing a HUGE amount of the planning and sponsorship recruitment to bring it to reality. Our deepest thanks also to him and Kathryn for opening their home to the after-golf get-together and wonderful grilled meats. We are also grateful to our hole sponsors: Greater MN Council of AFSCME, IBEW Local 292, the MN State College Faculty, the DFL House and Senate Caucuses, Matt Entenza, Attorney Harry Burns Jr., and John DeSantis/Kathryn Pearce. After expenses (golf course, prizes, sponsor signs, food & beverages), the Senate District realized a net profit of approximately $ 1,870.00. This takes us a big step toward a healthy treasury for 2014, and positions us to give ever greater support for our House candidates and others next year.
