SEASON PREVIEW: The final piece of Jose’s jigsaw. One again - TopicsExpress

SEASON PREVIEW: The final piece of Jose’s jigsaw. One again this season, questions have been asked of Fernando Torres and his Chelsea future and again he has had to come out and reaffirm his intentions to stay. You do have to give Rafa credit for his work with Torres as he finished the season on a high with 22 goals in all competitions. Would we have taken that at the beginning of last term? Of course we would have. We are all interested to see just how Torres performs with Mourinho and working under him. I would expect to see Torres play his natural game more so this time around as we have already heard from Jose speaking of playing to his strengths, on the shoulder of the last defender. This is a massive season for Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea. After his impressive season at West Brom last term he has been given his chance to become an important part of our first team and it’s a chance he has to take. His pre season form has been good and he has been scoring goals and that’s been a good start. However, it’s one thing doing that in Thailand but another doing it week in week out in this Chelsea side. He has everything in place to succeed and is quick to point out that he is not the natural replacement for Didier Drogba. Lukaku is his own man and has improved his game leaps and bounds since this time last year. Lukaku could make an even bigger impact this season both domestically and in Europe and gives us a different dimension up front. Right now, it’s between him and Torres for the start in the Premier League and I predict he WILL start against Hull on Sunday. The return of Romelu Lukaku is bad news for Demba Ba and I can see him being sold before the end of the transfer window on the 2nd September. In a way it’s hard on Ba who started his Chelsea career well with a couple of early goals. After that, Ba’s season was pretty much stop/start as Fernando Torres found his form again. Demba Ba played an important role for our club last season with important goals. However, I do not think he is a Chelsea player and was brought here to make up the numbers and provide competition for places up top. ~Paul~ #CFC
