SEEK DAILY (NBC) Friday, January 23 1 Samuel 12:19-25 NEVER CEASING TO PRAY FOR YOU Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you…. 1 Samuel 12:23, NKJV E. M. Bounds says, “Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still.” Praying for others is called intercession. It is the act of standing in the gap on behalf of a person, family, organization, tribe, nation, country or the world at large. It is moving God’s hands to act on behalf of another person. It is a selfless activity. There are moments when what God is looking for is a man, among others, who will build up the wall and stand before Him in the gap on behalf of the land so that God will not destroy it. When such men are not available, God’s judgment is always poured out upon the objects of His anger. Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18); Moses interceded for Israel (Exodus 32); and Jesus interceded for Peter (Luke 22:31-32). To Samuel, in our passage today, to cease from intercession is a sin. First of all, we need to repent from all gaps in our intercessory prayer lives and ask the Lord to grant us the grace to be faithful. Let us re-commit our lives to praying for our families, classmates, churches, towns, villages, tribes, nation and the world at large. • Birthday Blessing: Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:7 Read Bible Through Passage: Ex. 4, 5; Matt. 15:29-39 Heaven is full of answers to prayers for which no one ever bothered to ask. – Billy Graham
