SEEK DAILY (NBC) Saturday, July 6 Psalm 5 LEAD ME IN YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS Lead me, O LORD … make straight your way before me. Psalm 5:8, NIV This passage was written by David after Psalm 3 and 4 which were written regarding the time he fled following the rebellion of his son, Absalom. Calvin suggests that the passage was written when David ran for his life from King Saul. Whatever the situation, David’s enemies were cruel. They were spreading lies and deceits. They used flattery outwardly while inwardly they were interested in destroying him, and they were violent (vv. 6, 9 and 10).What do you do when you are under attack? How should you respond? Let us learn from David who used his trials as an opportunity to draw closer to the Lord. When you are under attack, take refuge in the Lord as your righteous defender through honest, personal, persistent, systematic and expectant prayers. Appeal to God as the righteous judge. As you draw close to Him, He will also draw nearer to you. All negative forces in whatever form__human, spiritual or otherwise will have to give way to His abiding presence. His grace shall envelop you and cause you to rejoice.
