SEEK DAILY, Saturday, November 29 Genesis 15:1-6 GOD IS OUR SHIELD Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. Genesis 15:1, NIV The shield has been adjudged as the most ancient and universal weapon of defence and protection. Ancient soldiers depended largely on the protection they got from the shield during battles. While speaking to Abram, God underscored the need for him not to fear. God gave him the assurance that He is his protector (his shield), and his very great reward (v. 1) even while he was on the verge of losing the hope of having an heir to inherit all he had laboured for. Many of us are like Abram. We get troubled about situations over which we do not have control even when the Sovereign LORD has assured us of His protection and reward. At such doubtful times, it may be necessary for you to take a step of faith and ‘go outside’ so that you can see beyond the limitations of the ‘inside,’ which you now see (Genesis 15:5). Number the opportunities you have been given by God, and you will know that He is your shield (v. 6).
