SEEK DAILY Wednesday, January 21 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12 WE PRAY TO GOD FOR YOU Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling… 2 Thessalonians 1:11, NKJV The city of Thessalonica was the capital and largest city of Macedonia which was founded by Cassander, a top military officer of Alexander the Great. Paul founded a church in that city (Acts 17) and the members of the church were mainly Gentiles; including a large number of devout Greeks and prestigious women. Many of the members, especially women, were unhappy with the moral decadence of that society. They had turned to Christianity because of its moral teachings, yet they sensed the bondage of the many laws of the Jews and thus, rejected their national biases. Paul therefore saw the need to pray for them in this passage. As Christ’s witnesses, we should also learn to pray for our converts and commend them to the hands of God. Inform them, also, that you are bothered about their Christian walk and that you are praying for them. The plan of God has not changed and the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. But we need to intercede on behalf of God’s heritage. So, spend some time each day to lift His people up. May the Lord depend on you. • Birthday Blessing: The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. Psalm 16:6 Read Bible Through Passage: Gen. 49, 50; Matt. 14:22-36 Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still. – E. M. Bounds
