SEEK DAILY, Wednesday, July 2 1 Corinthians 5:1-8 SINCERITY AND TRUTH IN THE BODY Therefore let us keep the feast…with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:8, KJV A man once said that even if truth and sincerity are absent in government and kings’ palaces, one should find it in the church. This is true! Kingdom virtues ought to have their base in the body of Christ. Virtues like righteousness, justice, truth and sincerity are necessary pillars that should sustain the witness of the church on earth as salt and light for Christ. Paul expressed shock at the unworthy characters of some members of the church (v. 1). He was shocked to see that the church did not take steps to root out the evil among them. He then recommended a discipline that should serve as deterrent to future offenders (v. 5). By alluding to the ceremony of the Passover, he exhorted them to cast out such unclean person from among them. He further asked them to renew their spirit, by plucking away the old corruption in them (vv. 7-8). How sincere are you with issues in your day-to-day living? You need to promote Christ everywhere. Pray that Christ’s light would reflect in your daily life so that others may see Christ in you. • Birthday Blessing: “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.
