Les Hinckley has been sidelined from racing due to the illness of his son Allen. “I’d rather go through this myself than have to watch my son go through it,” the Windsor Locks, Conn. driver stated. “It’s not any fun sitting in the waiting room knowing that your son’s brain is being worked on. It’s agonizing. I don’t know how else to describe it.” Wayne Darling, owner of the Seekonk Grand Prix go-kart track and entertainment complex has decided to give back. On June 7th, Darling will open the gates of the Seekonk, Mass., facility an hour early and encourage both racing enthusiasts and anyone else who would like to help, a chance to do so. “I have several drivers already committed to be a part of this,” Darling revealed. “Fans can come and race against them, and the revenue generated will go directly to Les and Allen Hinckley.” The hours for the Saturday, June 7 event will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This date was chosen because of the Valenti Modified Racing Series event taking place at Seekonk Speedway that same night, so many Modified fans and race teams will be in the area to participate. Allen has already endured three surgeries since March to treat what is known as a Congenital Arachnoid Cyst, with a Subdural Hematoma. The condition cuases pressure on his brain and requires a shunt and valve system to relieve pressure to his brain. The Seekonk Grand Prix is located at 1098 Fall River Ave. in Seekonk.
