SELF-CARE ACTION GROUP Caring for ourselves is obviously important but then why is it so difficult for us to do sometimes? Are we afraid we are being too selfish? Does it take too much time and energy? Do we feel we don’t deserve it? In this 8-week closed group, we will look in-depth at self-care and what it really means. In a supported environment we will explore what we need to do to take good care of ourselves. We will set weekly goals and share what we have accomplished as well as what we are having difficulty with. When we do take good care of ourselves and when we give ourselves the things we need in life, we are able to give so much more to the world. We are able to live more fulfilling lives. A component of these weekly sessions will be a time for 10 to 20 minutes of non-religious meditation. It will be a very simple method, focusing simply on our breath and recognizing our thoughts. You must be a member of MDABC, $30 per year, to take this workshop. If you are not already a member please come early the first day to sign up. Please bring a journal or notebook. Sessions will be Mondays February 2 to March 30, 2pm to 4pm, at MDABC head office, 1450-605 Robson Street. There will be no group on February 16 (Family Day) as it is a statutory holiday.
