SEMONKONG TO IMPROVE WATER SUPPLY Maseru, Oct.16 (LENA)--The Semonkong Urban Council will next month start improvement of water supply in 11 rural villages at Semonkong. This was revealed by the Semonkong Urban Council Town Clerk Mr. Thabiso Nchakha in an interview on Wednesday. Mr. Nchakha indicated that there are water taps, pipes and tanks in those villages which have been damaged and in need of repairs. He pointed out that due to the increase in population, there are some villages in which new water tanks will be build in order to improve capacity. He pointed out that the initiative came as a result of concerns about damaged water supply equipment raised by the public on various public gatherings conducted by councilors. Mr. Nchakha therefore appealed to the Semonkong community to take responsibility and protect the equipment as the developments are meant to improve their lives. Meanwhile, the Semonkong Town Clerk said the community is still in the dark about procedures to follow in order for one to acquire identity documents therefore the Ministry of Home Affairs has been invited to a public gathering to be held at Semonkong on October 23 to explain the process. He pointed out that means of communication are still scarce at Semonkong as a result the community is not easily updated hence the upcoming public gathering. He said it is crucial that members of the Semonkong community make informed decisions in relation to the identity documents so as to avoid unnecessary expenses incurred on frequent traveling. Semonkong is a village town in Maseru located in the mountains of Lesotho. It is regarded as one of the most popular tourist destination due to its famous 192 metres Maletsunyane Falls. LENA
