SENATOR ABE ATTRIBUTES AMAECHIS TRAVAILS TO HIS REFUSAL TO CEDE RIVERS OIL WELLS TO BAYELSA The Senator representing Rivers South-East in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe has attributed the feud between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Chibuike Amaechi to the refusal of Governor Amaechi to handover some oil wells belonging to Rivers State at Soku to Bayelsa State. Magnus Abe disclosed this while addressing a cross section of Andoni People at Ngo town, headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State where he assured them of Governor Amaechi’s commitment in protecting Rivers people from the hands of oppressors. “The things wey concern Rivers State, wey already dey our hand, we bin get quarrel with Bayelsa over oil well for Soku, everybody here know Soku, Soku dey Rivers State since wey dem born us, no be so, the oil well dey Rivers State, you know say if this thing bin happen between Jigawa and Kano, nobody for hear am but anything wey happen for where oil dey, wey money dey involve everybody must hear am, so immediately people see say that mistake don come na him dem begin write say no the man talk say Soku dey Bayelsa, make una give us the money” he spoke in pigin. He also said those who are fighting Governor Amaechi are only interested in the resources of the state. “The thing wey dey cause this problem be sey some people no like to hear the truth, once yoy be person wey dey stand for truth, dem tell you say make you shut up, you no gree, dem say no talk, you say you go talk, dem cheat your people, you say make dem no cheat dem, dem go begin fight you, the only crime of our Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi be say as dem wan cheat Rivers State him say no go gree, when dem say shut up, him say no go shut up, then dem say ok if you no gree we go teach you, him say una no go teach me, then wahala start, and that is the problem” he explained. Meanwhile, a former commissioner for information in the state Emma Okah has disagreed with Magnus Abe stressing that the travails of Governor Amaechi was as a result of his exclusiveness in Governance, disrespect to the President and disloyalty to the ruling party. “I think that the greatest problem the Governor has is that he is the one who is naturally looking for problems, when there are occasions that peace should reign, he will not want peace, when there are occasions that concesus should apply he will not apply concesus he should come down from his high horse and relate with his people, the good, the bad and the ugly because he is the Governor of the state and then he will see that everybody will work in unisim but to the extent that you will continue to have a Governor who thinks that he is all and all, who does not think there should be divergent opinon should exist in the state, then there is no way such Governor will have the kind of state that is persecuting Governor Amaechi, i do not think that President Jonathan is persecuting Governor Amaechi, on the contrary Amaechi is the one who has been persecuting and insulting the President, the PDP and the Federal Government” he said.
