SENATOR MARTIN HEINRICHS STATEMENT ON PRESERVING NET NEUTRALITY U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) has issued the following statement today on protecting an open Internet. The statement comes in light of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) scheduled May 15 meeting to consider a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the Commission’s 2010 Open Internet Order. “Like many New Mexicans, I have serious concerns about an FCC proposal that includes a ‘fast lane’ that could allow service providers to discriminate against small Internet businesses and weaken consumer protections. The Internet has always played a role in fostering innovation and education, and it promotes civic engagement.
