SENZO Meyiwas relatives believe he may have foreseen his death. Sifiso Meyiwa, Senzos brother, said Senzo changed his social media WhatsApp profile picture to a Bible verse just hours before he was killed. Senzo quoted Psalm 105:1, which reads: Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sifiso said his brother had never done something like that before. He always used photos of his daughters for his profile pics, he said. After the family received the news of Senzos death, his mum collapsed and was rushed to hospital. She was discharged yesterday. Senzos father, Sam Meyiwa (58), said he couldnt believe it when he was told about his sons death. Among the first people who rushed to Senzos home in K Section, Umlazi, south of Durban, was his former coach and mentor, Lindani Bayeni (33). Lindani was Senzos coach when he played for London Cosmos under the Umlazi Football Association. He said the association would cancel all its midweek and weekend fixtures in honour of Senzo. He said Senzo dreamt of playing for Orlando Pirates. Thats why he took the risk of leaving home to try his luck in Jozi when he was just 13 years old. After many years of being overlooked at Pirates and at Bafana Bafana, his hard work was rewarded this year when he was appointed captain of both teams. This taught me that with patience and hard work you can do anything, Lindani said. By yesterday afternoon Senzos home was flooded with people coming to offer condolences. Many journalists also camped outside the home. The eThekwini Municipality said it has plans for a massive memorial service, but had not confirmed the date at the time of going to print
