SEPARTING A MIXTURE OF SALT, TORN PAPER AND PAPER CLIPS. Grade 5 students were exploring how to separate the mixture of salt, torn paper and paper clips. They had a choice of using magnet, sieve, funnel and filter paper. First, use the magnet to take paper clip out. then either use funnel or filter paper or sieve to separate salt and torn paper. EXPLORING HOW TO SEPARATE SALT AND SAND, USING WATER. Mix salt, sand and water so salt will dissolve into water.Filter the sand, leave the water to evaporate and salt will stay behind.
