SEPTEMBER 13th: Part of communication and gaining a sense of understanding is asking questions. We were created that way. We were given resources, like our brain, to gain knowledge, and today we are lucky enough to have the Holy Spirit, who helps guide us in our decision-making. So does it ever become a sin or show disrespect when we ask God questions? It can when we tune God out of our lives. Like stated on Monday, life is hard and there are things we will never understand. However, God doesn’t ever say in scripture, I am only here when things make sense and things are going good! No, in fact, as we read yesterday, God wants us to live in FAITH not by sight! Habakkuk asked some very tough questions to God. But not once do you ever read God turning his back on Habakkuk and saying, “I’m done with you and your questions!” In Habakkuk 3, Habakkuk makes a final declaration that continues to speak to many today. As you continue your relationship with God, and we live this journey called life together, stay focused on how God is with you instead of the unanswered questions and events. Take a moment and reflect on how Habakkuk’s declaration can transform into your own declaration today…Habakkuk 3:17-19: Fig trees may not grow figs, and there may be no grapes on the vines. There may be no olives growing and no food growing in the fields. There may be no sheep in the pens and no cattle in the barns. But I will still be glad in the Lord; I will rejoice in God my Savior. The Lord God is my strength. He makes me like a deer that does not stumble so I can walk on the steep mountains. (NCV)
