SERIOUSLY? and a little story behind. Short interview with the german magazine trndmusik.de: 2 years after releasing his first album “Lessons in dub”, Leipzig based DJ and producer Marc DePulse returns to his home label Ostwind Records. “Seriously?” appears in August 2014. According to the original track this 2-tracker 10” vinyl and mp3-single includes a remix by Niconé (Dantze / Stil Vor Talent). trndmusik: Tell us about the ideas for the single – how and where did you do it? Marc DePulse: You can´t calculate ideas, they just come with your daily life or during a studio day. “Seriously?” started the same way. Sometimes there are days when you open a project in your studio, then you´re listening what you did the last days and finally you close it because you can´t create any ideas. These moments are not made for being in the studio, you´d better spend some free time then. And there are also days when you´ve got a big run. I always work across on 3-4 tracks at once, because I can hardly work hours on only one project. Often the best ideas come this way, as for example a new melody or a bassline perfectly fits to another track you´re working on. “Seriously?” exactly got this story, so with some combined elements from different tracks this track finally was made within 2-3 days. trndmusik: How did you get in touch with Niconé? Marc DePulse: Well, we already got connected some time ago on social media. He played my track “Montag Moll” (from the album in 2012) in so many sets and that´s the reason we got in touch and spoke about music. The day I sent the track “Seriously?” he just returned from his US-tour, it was 7 o´clock in the morning, he was caught in a jetleg and told me “Send the files for a remix, I´ve got an idea right now!”. After that we got a quick result and I´m a big fan of his remix. The production is very intelligent in my producers ears. As I´ve heard the track for the very first time I was in studio with a friend. We turned the speakers loud and the sound was really fantastic for us because it´s so full and deep. trndmusik: Why did you release the single on Ostwind Records? Marc DePulse: I grew up with Ostwind. It´s the label I now have the most releases ever, guess it´s already about 15 singles and remixes. To be honest: I stopped counting. In 2012 I had my first album “Lessons in dub” on Ostwind. It´s why I´m connected in a familiar way to the guys from the german “Seenplatte”. I feel home on this label and have a big respect to their philosophy. Now after 2 years it´s the right time for a follow-up single I think. So many people already asked me, when my next Ostwind single finally will be released.
