SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for DAMAGING WIND, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the LOCKYER VALLEY, SOMERSET, SOUTH BURNETT, CHERBOURG SHIRE and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, GYMPIE, IPSWICH CITY, DALBY, SCENIC RIM and TOOWOOMBA Council Areas. Issued at 7:24 pm Monday, 16 September 2013. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Oakey and the Bunya Mountains. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Toowoomba and the area west of Kingaroy by 7:55 pm and Laidley, Gatton, Esk and Kingaroy by 8:25 pm. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely. Wind gusts to 80 km/hr were observed at Dalby at 6:40pm.
