SEVERE WEATHER WARNING: A Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds has been issued this morning (Sun 11/8/13). A rapidly moving cold front is expected to enter the far southwest of the state early on Monday and reach the northeast by the end of the day, triggering damaging wind gusts for the elevated terrain mostly. Damaging winds over 80 km/h with peak gusts over 120 km/h are expected to develop near Alpine Peaks soon after midnight on Monday. Damaging wind gusts over 90 km/h are forecast to develop during late morning or early afternoon hours for the Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains forecast districts and elevated parts of the Australian Capital Territory, Mid North Coast, Upper Hunter, Northern Tablelands, South Coast and Central West Slopes & Plains forecast districts. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep clear of fallen power lines. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
