SEVERE WEATHER WARNING: Current radar and satellite data continues to show ex-tropical storm Gonzalo crossing the Atlantic ocean having caused widespread damage over the Bermuda area. Later this evening and overnight a spell of very heavy rainfall and very strong winds will set in across the region wit all areas seeing the risk of localised flooding and some very strong winds. Highest winds will reach anywhere between 80 and 100 kph and possibly reaching even higher values across upland areas and northern and western coasts. The remains of Gonzalo will lead to some very dangerous driving conditions through this evening and overnight as surface water, branches, poor visibility, and strong cross winds will play havoc with motorists of the Midlands. In particular the upland routes of Glendine, Wolftrap mountain, and the cut will see particularly dangerous conditions, caution is advised. Tomorrow Tuesday will be a day of sunny spells and passing heavy squally showers with the risk of thunder in some areas. Some gusts during these squalls may again reach as high as 80 to 90 kph so further caution is advised. Highs will range between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius. Wednesday will see conditions calm down considerably across the Midlands as winds drop off drastically. The day itself will be reasonably overcast with the risk of some rainfall in western areas of the region in particular. Highs will continue to range between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. More details to follow later. If you would like any further information then please feel free to message the page or comment below. Kindest regards, Cathal.
