SHAHEED MIR MURTAZA BHUTTOS 18th ANNIVERSARY TODAY. Mir Murtaza was shot dead on Sept. 20, 1996 in Karachi. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was prime minister at the time and this event brought down her government shortly after. Mir Murtaza Bhutto will be remembered as the scion of Bhutto family who endured the rigours of exile, witnessed the tormenting of his mother and sister, the assassination of his father and his younger brother but who refused to compromise with the dictatorship.
