SHRAVAN MASS (AS EXPLAINED BY SHRI VEKHANDE SIR AND AS UNDERSTOOD BY US) AS Understood commonly by everybody amongst us that shravan mass is the most auspicious month of hindu calendar and naturally it is devoted to shiva…….but the question remain used to persist that why Lord shiva is worshipped in shravan mass…….although not much of the refererences exclusively has been provided in the literature available including shiva puran……..what is explained to us is very surprising and logically answered. Mainly five deities are worshipped in hindu families as panchayatan in which Shiva,Ganesh,Devi,Vishnu and surya….are there .As we all know on Ashadi or devshayani Ekadashi Lord Vishnu goes for sleep are there the chaturmaas begins..before that as per literature Lord Ganesha also goes for sleep on ashadi chaturthi(shuklapaksh) till bhatrapada chaturthi….Amongst the 5 Shiva ,Devi and surya Never goes for sleep. Everybody known that shiva is completely unconcerned for Laxmi and the worldly affairs. After Vishnu Shayan ….Goddess Laxmi is alone without a master and knocks the door of shiva for shelter……. Shravan mass is not the month of shiva as usually firm belief everybody amongst us known. In shrawan mass Shivaji is worshipped to please the laxmi as Shiva is always unconcerned for laxmi and after Vishnu shayan it is foremost requirement of the shrishti to provide the shelter therefore Shiva is worshipped. Actual month of Shiva is Magh mass in which Shivaratri is followed. Now the journey of Mata Laxmi start on the day of Ashadi Amavasya (As per Hindi calendar Shrawan Amavasya)(Here onethings has to be understood before proceeding further the region above Narmada river follows the Vikram Savatsar in which the month ends on poornima ..Purnamant Whereas the belt which is below Godavari the month ends on Amavasya –Amant and the middle region are assorted culture. Now the practicing of pleasing the Laxmi strart on the day of Ashadi Amavasya itself in the region of Shaksavatsar specially in Maharashtra one days before shravan . The best way to please Mata Laxmi is by Deep Prajavalan-Poojan as we all do specially on the day of Deepawali..therefore everybody amongst us should go for Deep poojan on the day of ashadi Amavasya like a deepawali and have a divas at our front door. Days of Shrawan Maas 1)Monday:- Monday fasting is very important and here it must be concluded before sunset..Shiva Linga pujan we should have with Dhanya(grain)with hand full of grain as here everything is connected to provide a shelter to laxmi and Dhanya is laxmi and everything here is just to please shiva for laxmi only.Monday is also considered as day of Gauri , 2)Tuesday:-Maun vrat and Mangalgauri pujan…..The flow of laxmi will increase after having Maun vrat.Newly married couples are expempted in first 5 years for Maun vrat 3)Wednesday:- Anant ki Puja in form of Nag or Neelkanth…this is the day we can arpan Vishh to shiva also in the form of Dhatura ,Ganja Bhang,,,akada ,Shiva accept all this forms of arpan as he is in the form of Neelkanth..specially Manas puja please him on this day of shravan very much 4)Thursday:-Thursday Shiva should be worshipped for putra prapti (Arpan of Bilavapatra,Pusha,Dhoop ,Deep,,Ashtagandh has to be offered )How Bilavapatra offered if we offered upside down than it is for Laxmi Prapti and if offered as a open mouth is for prapti of Saraswati) 5)Friday:-Friday is known as Sampat shukrawar ,,,,,and varad laxmi vrat is done on this day.. Be cautious wearing wearing of Peet vastra(yellow)on Friday during shravan should be avoided to invite the diseases Friday is a day of Laxmi it helps you to make u free from diseases for which Peet vastra should be avoided and one should speak very sweet on that days .Sour Foods and bitter foodsKhatta should be avoided .Have Honey on this day of shravan 6)Saturday:-Anbody who worship Lords Shiva on Saturday is blessed by mata laxmi. As Saturn(Karak of Daridrata..Poverty) fears Narsimha and Maruti for which worshipping them on Saturday is for Laxmi Prapti……Pupil tree is considered as Saturn 7)Sunday:- No upawas for male and female can have the fast on that day Important Thithis of shrawan mass Ashtmi ,Ekadashi,Triyodashi and Chaturdashi,Poornima are very auspicious in shrawan mass Ashtmi is a day of Laxmi for which yagyas are also performed during the days of Navratra . Ekadashi is again for a laxmi prapti ..one should note that Krishna paksha ekadashi should not be performed if you are in material world……….except shrawan mass ….because Krishna paksha ekadashi is completely dedicated to out and out Lord shiva and shukla paksha Ekadashi is out to out for Lord Vishnu. Poornima on this day is day of pragat din of Lord Hyagriv for which balancing act of rahu and ketu can be done on Shrawan poornima on should worship Mata Laxmi sitting on the Lap of Lord Hyagriv with a shlok…..Gyanand mayam devam nirmala sfatik aakratim..aadaharam sarva vidyanam hyagrivam upasmahe Shravan poornima is also known as shrawani in which yagnopavit pujan is done ..on this day the full year of ved shrawan is completed and by changing the janeoo …..it is done specially by rigvedi and yagurvedi Brahmins.before wearing janeo it is shown to lord surya .it is also known as Raksha sutra that is why raksha bandhan is also celebrated In shrawan it is very very important that from Dutiya to panchami pujan one should not leave his place and on panchami tithi Prasad of puran is must for laxmi those who have male child. And Nag darshan is done than it is very auspicious……….that is why since the ages we are celebrating a nagpanhmi on this day of shrawan panchmi .. Why Amavasya is very important in shrawan as we celebrate Pola by Nandi pujan first the only reason is in the testicals of nandi all devta resides that is why have the system of touching the testicals of nandi before shivalinga darshan and on the horns of nandi garuda is tied and between the horn we have the system of darshan through the horns of nandi as garuda is tied … Why Shiva parikram is not done of shivapindi ……As also Pitars ,Rudragan that is Shivagan resides on the yoni marg….if we do the parikrama they get disturbed.as they stays there….hence clapping is also prohibited …only Nadh of damru is permitted. Since Goddess Laxmi is Jagatjanani and mata of the world hence it is therefore the sacred duty of all the people who are children of matas to perform the Shrawan to please the laxmi by worshipping the shiva That is why most of people do not trim hairs, nails because whatever activities is done it is arpit to shiva…and laxmi…during only this period of chaturmaas including shravan the grihasta people are permitted to grow hairs. Thanks vekhande sir…………..No body was able during the years to provide the logical insight for the shrawan……..we are indebted to you.
