SI held accepting bribe A Sub-Inspector attached to Kitchipalayam police station here was arrested on Thursday by the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on charges of taking a bribe for releasing two persons on station bail. The police said that Sulaiman lodged a complaint with the Kitchipalayam police stating that Prakash and Hussein, both labourers, uttered obscene words in public place and entered into minor scuffle with him in May. The police registered a case. Though it is a non-cognizable offence and both can be released after paying a fine in the court, SI M. Rajendran demanded Rs. 2,000 from each so that he could release them on station bail. Both alerted the DVAC. On Thursday, a team led by DVAC DSP Chandramouli laid a trap and caught Rajendran red-handed while accepting bribe.
