SILVERFACE GRILL FRAMES When Fender made these amps with removable frames they used chip board and after 40 years they warped, bent and just broke in half. Here is a fix for this problem and how to do it step by step. First. Cut a piece of ¼ plywood the proper size for your amp leaving enough clearance for the cloth. 1/16 on top and one side is adequate. Second. Rip some ¼ x 1 ½ plywood strips and frame out the board in step one. You can use elmers glue and a staple gun to attach the stripping. Dont forget to add a piece for the logo and center brace if it applies to your amp. Route out the area for the speakers Third. Paint the frame with dull sheen black paint. Fourth. Select some grill cloth. I took some BWS/W blue stripe and aged it for this customer. Staple the cloth on the board and install the velcro{ Not shown} on the back in the proper places. We are all done and the grill frame will last longer than we will and your amp will look super slick ! This frame is for Steve Johnson in New Jersey. If you feel it is a bit too much of a project I can make you one and ship it to you. I hope this information helps you to keep your amp top condition.
