SINGING OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL FEMALE SINGERS TO TAKE PART IN MUSICAL DRAMA MADDIE4MUSIC will be running two singing workshops to have a look at five songs which form part of “Get up and tie your fingers” a musical drama about fisherwives working in the herring industry in 1881 and the terrible consequences of a storm when they are left behind after their husbands are lost, with a view to performances with the company at the Quarterhouse in Folkestone in late July. This is a touring production from April to September 2014. The Landmark Show Choir has been invited to take part and we are keen for other female singers age 16 plus in the local area to join us. We will look at the music at these workshops. It will be quite challenging with four part unaccompanied harmony and off by heart but it will be taught mostly by ear so note reading is not essential, just a musical ear! Im afraid its just a female chorus that is required, lads! The workshops will be at the following times and each cost £4- its not compulsory to take part in the event to come to the workshops. You also need to consider that you will have to be available most of the week commencing 21 July evenings etc if you do decide you’d like to be part of the performances. We need 12-20 singers. Tuesday 11th March 8.15-9.30pm St Margarets Scout Hut Wednesday 12th March 6.45-8pm Landmark Centre, Deal PERFORMANCE/REHEARSAL DETAILS: Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings after choir rehearsals in Deal and St Margarets ad hoc as required from mid March through to July, fee of £4 per hour’s session payable. There will also be learning CDs available so you can work on the songs outside rehearsals too.
