SINGLE MOM SHOUT-OUT: So many great single moms in our life. Please, prayerfully consider these words by Polly Berrien Berends. Doubt I could support everything she asserts. But this quote by her is full of wisdom. “A child needs both to be hugged and unhugged. The hug lets her know she is valuable. The unhug lets her know that she is viable. If you’re always shoving your child away, they will cling to you for love. If you’re always holding them closer, they will cling to you for fear.” I know one too many loving caring parents who dont know how to let go. Were it not for the wisdom of my wife, Nancy, I would forever hover over my children, suffocating them with my fears of loss. But, hugging a bit too much is especially true for single mothers who have borne the weight of 200% parenting. No, you couldnt do it all, God never created you for such a task. Surely, He has been there to see you through the impossible times. But, you point your children to the One who can do it all. Now stop only hugging, and trust your children into the arms of God so you can have a life too. That is a lesson they too will need to learn. And you must teach to them by example. Isaiah 54:13 All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.
