SITUATION REPORT – Look at the drastic increase from June 9th to June 11th. Something is not going right with this Ebola situation. BBC News (bbc/news/world-africa-27888363) is reporting that “The deadly Ebola virus has killed seven people in Liberias capital, Monrovia, health officials have said.” They say “These are the first deaths reported in the city since the outbreak of the contagious virus in several West African states.” Is this correct? I think they mean to say these are the total deaths in confirmed cases since the virus was first reported. How effectively are we handling this outbreak? Is it here to stay? The dramatic jump of 9 suspected cases, 1 probable case, and 4 confirmed cases in two days from June 9th to June 11th is scary to me. Can the Ministry of Health explain what’s going on? 11 June 2014 09 June 2014 New case/s (Suspected) 10 2 New case/s (Probable) 1 0 New case/s (Confirmed) 4 0 Total suspected cases 16 7 Total probable cases 3 2 Total confirmed cases 11 7 Cumulative (confirmed, probable, suspected) cases 30 16 Newly reported deaths on 11 June 2014 6 0 Total deaths in confirmed cases 7 6 Total deaths in probable cases 3 2 Total deaths in suspect cases 7 2 Total deaths in confirmed, probable, suspect cases* 15 10 mohsw.gov.lr/documents/Liberia%20Ebola%20Viral%20Disease-Sit%20Rep-%2030-%2011th%20June%202014.pdf%20docx%20(1).pdf mohsw.gov.lr/documents/Liberia%20Ebola%20Viral%20Disease-Sit%20Rep-%2029-%209th%20June%202014.pdf%20docx%20(1).pdf June 07, 2014 (??) report Liberia Ebola Viral Disease-Sit Rep- 29th May-9th June 2014 The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, reports a fresh outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease in Liberia.
