SKARDU TOUR Skardu, along with Gilgit, are the two major tourism, trekking and expedition hubs in the Northern Areas. The mountainous terrain of the region, including four of the worlds fourteen Eight-thousander peaks (8,000m and above), attracts the attention of tourists, trekkers and mountaineers from around the world. The main tourist season is from April to October; outside this time, the area can be cut off for extended periods by the snowy, freezing winter weather. Accessible from Skardu by road, the nearby Askole and Hushe Valleys are the main gateways to the snow covered 8,000 meters peaks including K2, the Gasherbrums, Broad Peak and the Trango Towers, and also to the huge glaciers of Baltoro, Biafo and Trango. This makes Skardu the main tourist and mountaineering base in the area, which has led to the development of a reasonably extensive tourist infrastructure including shops and hotels. ITINERARY: DAY 01: ISLAMABAD: Arrival at the airport in Islamabad, our guide and driver will pick you here and transfer to the hotel for overnight DAY 02: ISLAMABAD – CHILAS / BY AIR TO SKARDU Departure for Chilas / Fly to Skardu. The main attraction of Chilas is the incredible collection of Rock Art, which depicts early history of the region. Short stay en-route for lunch. overnight at Chilas/Skardu. DAY 03: CHILAS – SKARDU / EXPLORE AROUND Departure for Skardu, capital of Baltistan (height 2,438m) located in the backdrop of great peaks of the Karakoram mountain range. Baltistan is known as the “Little Tibet” and it is a cluster of mountain peaks and glaciers. Five valleys of Baltistan-Skardu, Shigar, Khaplu, Rondu and Kharmang are noted for their juicy peaches, apricots, apples and pears / Explore the Skardu city and around if travel by air. Arrival and transfer to hotel. Overnight at Skardu. DAY 04: EXPLORE AROUND Departure for Shigar Valley - gateway to the great mountain peaks of the Karakorams, i.e Gasherbrum Peak and K-2. Visit of 400 years old Wooden Mosque and Fort evening to Saad Para Lake from Shigar Valley. Overnight at Skardu DAY 05: SKARDU – KHAPULU VILLAGE Departure for Khaplu Valley, the scenic valley of the Shyok River located 103 km from Skardu. Many famous mountains such as Masherbrum, Saltoro. Sia Kangri, K-6, K- 7 is located here. Overnight at Khapulu DAY 06: EXPLORE THE VILLAGE AND AROUND DAY 07: KHAPUKU – SKARDU Departure on the way back to Skardu, arrive and transfer to the hotel for overnight. DAY 08: SKARDU – BESHAM Departure for Besham on the Karakorum Highway, arrive and transfer to the hotel for overnight DAY 09: BESHAM – ISLAMABAD Habibullah then the ministry for Education. Sir John Marshall who was going to be retired from the post of Director General of Archaeological survey of India in 1928, could not complete its original plan. The government of Pakistan constructed the northern gallery in 1998. There are 4000 objects displayed, including stone, stucco, terracotta, silver, gold, iron and semiprecious stones. Mainly the display consists of objects from the period 600 B.C to 500 AD. Buddhist, hindu and Jain cults are well represented through these objects discovered from three ancient cities and more than two dozen buddhist stupas and monasteries and Greek temples. Taxila Museum is located 35 km from Islamabad on the Grand Trunk Road to Peshawar. It is famous for remains of Gandhara art. Most of the sites at Taxila, dating back 600 BCE to 500 CE, are located around the Taxila Museum. Overnight at the hotel in Islamabad/Rawalpindi DAY 10: ISLAMABAD Explore the Islamabad city visiting Faisal Mosque, Margala Hills, Shaker Pariya, Evening drive to the airport and fly to destination.
