SLEEPING WITH DOGS: some rules! Many people like to sleep with their dogs on their beds. This is a personal choice but sleeping in a high place can give a dog a sense of being in charge (once called dominance). Below are some guidelines for sleeping with your dogs: 1. Dog must be invited onto the bed every night. Do not allow dog to assume access to the bed is a right. 2. Do not allow dog to take over your pillow or crowd you out of the bed. 3. Sleeping at the foot of the bed is best rather than alongside humans. 4. Growly dogs at any time MUST be immediately removed to the floor. 5. No dog toys or chews on the bed. 6. Dogs that mark the bed (peeing) MUST not be allowed to sleep on the bed. 7. No dogs sleeping with toddlers or infants at any time. 8. Small dogs can fall out of bed and may injure themselves if falling or jumping onto hard floors- be cautious about having small dogs on beds. 9. If sleeping with a puppy be careful about crushing the pup.
