SMI lesson 3 - We are a conditioned people This lesson brings us back to a lesson from a marathon runner that stems from 1954. In the history of time before 1954, to run a 4 minute mile was considered not humanly possible. So called “experts” said that it was even dangerous to do so. However, in May 1954, Roger Bannister created history by breaking the 4 minute mile barrier. And guess what, the record lasted ONLY 46 days… and following that, scores of runners have surpassed the 4 minute mile barrier. We are a conditioned people. Our upbringing and the world influences and conditions our mind and body to set the limits of our potential. On the other hand, if we condition ourselves to be open to endless possibilities and to the achievability of our goals. We give ourselves the right to break barriers. Mistakes and failures will definitely also be part of our conditioning. These 2 things will come along as part of our success journey, but how we deal with them, what we do about it in each situation determines the outcome of our goals. At the end of the day, failure is not us failing actually, it is just feedback for our success.
