SNOW CREEK FIRE Cause: Lightning Detected: August 11, 2013 Location: Approximately 19 miles southeast of Swan Lake, MT Legal Description: Lat. 47° 41.31, Long. 113°23.46 Current size: 79 acres Jurisdiction: USDA-FS, Northern Region, Flathead National Forest, Spotted Bear Ranger District Current Status: The fire is burning in very steep rocky terrain at high elevation in the upper portions of Snow Creek in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The fire is being managed to allow the fire to play its natural role in the wilderness. Yesterday the fire increased in size, although fire behavior remains minimal. It is actively creeping along the ground with some isolated tree torching. Fire conditions are being monitored by fire crews at Black Bear Cabin and by aerial reconnaissance. Resources: 5 Forest Service personnel are stationed at Black Bear cabin to support structure protection, assist in monitoring fire conditions, and to provide information to the public traveling in the area. Closures: No trail closures are associated with this fire.
