SNP to be ignored in TV debate for 2015 Election... Yes, we all know that online petitions arent worth the paper theyre printed on, however if you could spare a few seconds of time to sign this one, itd perhaps go a little way to right the balance a little in the UK broadcast media. Feel free to share, as well. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/omission-from-ofcom-debates-undemocratic It might also be a good idea to complain to the office of the Secretary to the Corporation, Graham Howell at [email protected] and in case anyone feels this is inappropriate to promote a particular political party on a non-SNP page, can I just say that regardless of what party or parties you support, you should recognise that excluding the SNP, an enormously important force in British politics at the moment, from the televised leader debates is an affront to democracy. The establishment wanted Scotland to stay in the UK and participate in their democracy, and now when we do exactly that, they want to silence the voice of the only major UK party that still stands for what the Yes movement represented. Please overlook party politics and realise that until we get independence, the SNP are the best hope we have to stand up for our interests within the UK system, and those who urged us to vote for the. best of both worlds are continuing to try and ensure we actually benefit from neither. Please sign the petition, and send an email to Ofcom. Thank you. ______ Petition header reads: Allow the SNP who are the 3rd biggest Political Party and the only Political Party to HOLD a MAJORITY GOVERNMENT in the UK to take part in their Broadcast of Political Debates..In the lead up to the 2015 General Election, Ofcom must show the voters of the UK and the other media representatives involved and the other Political Parties that they are not bias towards other Political Parties so therefore they must show they plan to have a democratic debate that will be visible to all in the UK by inviting and including the SNP to debate alongside all the other parties involved in the Political future of the UK in their Broadcasts of Political Debates. Why is this important? Its great to see that Ofcom have involved The English Greens however, their failure to involve the SNP who are currently the UK’s third largest political party with over 93,000 members and even more importantly are the ONLY political party in the UK to hold a Majority Government, This alone you would think entitles the SNP to be heard by all UK voters. Unfortunately NOT.... In Ofcoms failure to contact the SNP in their consultation ahead of the General Election also represents a failure of democracy in the UK, Ofcom needs to recognise that the SNP hold a majority government and are the UK’s third largest political party and involving them in Broadcast of Political Debates is key to ensuring fair media coverage in the run up to the 2015 May 7th General Election.. Ofcom must show the voters of the UK that by including the SNP they are showing that they are unbiased and plan democratic coverage of the run up to Broadcast of Political Debates in the 2015 General Election that will determine the future of the UK, By excluding the SNP, Ofcom are denying fair representation which is a democratic right and should be considered as bias media coverage by denying every UK viewer the right to decide what is right or what is wrong for their country during these Broadcast of Political Debates.
