SO THIS IS THE Nonsense I get pulled into, because people that are not African American or a Minority refuses to see the harsh realities and importance of Minority Award shows like BET and The Latin Music Awards... LMAO!! I know its long, but I swear to you its well worth the read LOL! Judith Elliott just a thought provoking question to create some discussion.... we have BET Awards and the Latin American Awards. the academy awards are supposed to include all. And all that is awesome...is it racial bias to have Caucasian Awards? Just food for thought, just a question...do we still need to separate all the awards shows? Reply · Like · 1 · Follow Post · about an hour ago SirErvin Williams · Harris Stowe State University They have them, theyre called the Oscars Grammys Emmys Country Music Awards Billboards American Music Awards Tonys and the list can go on and on... If you look at the majority of the winners and performers at these award shows you will find that they are of Caucasian decent.... IJS!!! Reply · Like · 4 · about an hour ago Ryan Januszyk · Co-CEO at Tanroe Productions SirErvin Williams That wasnt the question though... She asked would it be racially biased to have a Caucasian Awards show... I say no... IJS!!! Reply · Like · about an hour ago SirErvin Williams · Harris Stowe State University Ryan Januszyk I heard the question, my answer was sufficient, what Im saying is they dont need to have one, because they already exist.... Then I listed them Reply · Like · about an hour ago Judith Elliott thank you for your answer! I like those that actually read the questions and answer specifically. Not looking to create political issues, just wondering why we segregate ourselves... Reply · Like · about an hour ago Judith Elliott SirErvin Williams I think your response is a result of the percentage of the nominees heritage, which I appreciate. a majority of the acting parts do go to those of caucasian descent. Perhaps because of story line, etc. Dont know - not in the industry. But just wondering why, if we want to all be one, why then - do we continue to separate our accolades, awards? I think we need to appreciate each other instead of perpetuating separatetiveness...just a thought. But its good either way to give props to talent of all nations, color and cultures. I feel your passion... Reply · Like · about an hour ago SirErvin Williams · Harris Stowe State University Judith Elliott Its kind of sad that we have to do these types of things, and Im not trying to start any political issues on your status either. Unfortunately, we live in a society that sees the importance of color, particularly in America.... So, you find minorities creating things such as the BET Awards and Latin American Awards, because some of those artist have been snubbed by the Major Award Shows. So they had to make their own award shows, to acknowledge their art, and give voices to those artist who may or may not have been heard by he main stream industry.. Look at it this way the Oscars were around 60 plus years before Halle Berry won Best Actress... Where their African American actresses before her, of course... Where there actresses who should have won before her? Of course... Unfortunately, we live in a society that sees color,a nd all of its virtues... Would it be racial bias to have an Caucasian Award, the answer is Yes, because they already exist.... Do we still need to separate award shows, unfortunately YES... Sad reality, but thats what were living in today... Now tomorrow, may be a different story... Reply · Like · about an hour ago Ryan Januszyk · Co-CEO at Tanroe Productions SirErvin Williams its obvious what you heard... but I think you should of read the question... The question was, if the name of an award show was the Caucasian Awards do you think it would be racially bias..? Now I understand what you mean in your answer, but could you still answer if you think it would be racially bias to have a show called The Caucasian Awards...? Would it...? Also, we both know what Judith meant.... She might of well just asked, would anyone have a problem with a network named WET..? Its the same when someone has a tattoo/shirt that says Black Pride or Brown Pride... if it said White Pride it would be taken an entirely different way... right...? It shouldnt... Racism goes BOTH ways and your perception of her question tends to make me believe that you have racial tendencies... My honest opinion is if there continues to be separation there will always be segregation. IJS.. Reply · Like · 44 minutes ago Judith Elliott Hmmm....good thoughts and good comments. Id like to think that those in movies, etc., who considering themselves minorities - especially of late, - feel recognized. Examples being - exceptional pieces being recognized of late i.e. Django ; The Help, 12 Years a Slave; Life of Pi, Captain Phillips, The Butler, to just name a few of the latest blockbuster films giving nominations to those considered by some to be minorities? Thoughts? Reply · Like · 37 minutes ago Ryan Januszyk · Co-CEO at Tanroe Productions SirErvin Williams my last post was late... and I just read your and Judith posts. SirErvin Williams I appreciate your honesty in saying Yes but dont you think that thinking the way your thinking will just continue to hinder any kind of advancement...? Reply · Like · Edited · 34 minutes ago SirErvin Williams · Harris Stowe State University Ryan Januszyk Thats not the way I think, Im stating the harsh reality of our situation in society... Unfortunately, you have people who dont see the progression in diversity, nor the relevance of accepting all art.... We have people that dont want to be equal under any circumstance and unfortunately we have people who monopolize off of fear and Superior and Inferior complexes... Progression has happened, but it is still slow and stagnant especially in Hollywood... Reply · Unlike · 2 · 26 minutes ago SirErvin Williams · Harris Stowe State University Judith Elliott I thought we werent going to start a political debate on your page, but the few movies that you named over the last 85 years of award shows, do not make the situation equal nor do it have anything to do with the price of tea in China... DJANGO Shouldnt even been mentioned in the sentence... The other five movies that are mentioned are alright pieces of art. Now I want you to calculate all of the movies being nominated over the last 80 plus years, and get back to me about feeling recognized... LOL! I cant Reply · Like · 22 minutes ago Ryan Januszyk · Co-CEO at Tanroe Productions SirErvin Williams i understand that but it seems like your original comment was said with a chip-on-your-shoulder which is also understood but thats why I addressed it. I might be wrong but its my belief that if we as a whole people continue to separate ourselves nothing will change. Like the questions that ask someone to declare their race... I guess the original intent of those questions was to help promote equality by keeping statistics of race pertaining to whatever the situation might be and then monitoring those situations but now i think they need to be done away with. Its just another way to separates us. For example... What if someone gets hired for a job specifically because the job needs someone of their race to keep a balanced equal opportunity workplace. SirErvin if YOU were that person that was qualified for the job but got passed up because they need someone of a different race or gender to keep it equal how would you feel. Isnt THAT being racist...? I understand the original reasons that these things were done in the past but I just think we need to move past that and now try to truly keep things equal..... Reply · Like · 3 minutes ago SirErvin Williams · Harris Stowe State University Ryan Januszyk So many things to address where do I began... I didnt say anything with a Chip on my shoulders ifs very unfortunate when youre the African American in the room, and youre passionate about something, instead of saying you have a very valid point, thats something I wish could do away with you say I kind of said it with a Chip on my shoulder which is far from the truth... Im not the typical stereotype of the Angry Black Man that the media portrays us to be... Im simply stating what I see... and I would appreciate if you dont get the two confused....#2 Yes I have and other minorities been passed up for a job, that were overly qualified for... Yes its considered raciest, when the Majority are practicing these things... Which they have and continue to do . See there is Racism & Prejudices . You must understand the two, there are two facets to racism you have the Superiority & Inferiority Complex which one feel better because theyre of the majority and one feel less than, because theyre of the minority.... Then there is Definition number 2 that people dont like to speak of, and thats Having the ability to hinder or pass laws that suppresses a race or group of people... Unfortunately, in America the only ones who have done this to groups of people across the nation are Caucasian Americans... Dont blame me, blame history and when youre on the receiving end of racism every single day, you would see your comments and issues totally differently.... Every day I wake up and society fears me, no matter what you or anyone else says this is the reality of my situation and others who look like me... Im not angry, nor do I have a Chip on my shoulder Im simply stating to you the harsh reality that exist as being of African descent in this country... Hopefully this will help your perception...
