SOCCER CL Match day 4 is in the books and the big boys keep marching on. Bayern, Barca, the two Madrids, PSG, followed by Man City, Arsenal, Dortmund are heading to the last sixteen. Juventus versus Real Madrid was the pairing of the day with constant action from end to end. Arsenal will surprise and Dortmund will disappoint. In terms of players, Asamoah for Juventus and Muntari for Milan seem to be in fine form and despite the struggles of Milan. Essien is not playing and Etoo will be ready for an unforgettable finale to a great career in Brazil. Ricardo Kaka continues to rebound and his re-emergence will make Brazil fearsome. Nigeria once again rekindled Africas hopes of a bright future by winning the under seventeen trophy. Once again, a new generation of African youngsters have burst onto the world scene but will they disappear or emerge? This is the same stage where Ronaldinho, Messi and many others first served notice of their talent. As for Pele, he did not serve notice-- He starred in the victorious Brazil squad of 1958 as a 17-year old and was carried shoulder-high when the final whistle sounded, by his team-mates. Where did Odartey go? Where are his great medals? We watched with pride and excitement as Adiyiah scaled the summit as the best player and the top scorer of the Under-20s in Egypt. God tell me what happened to Adiyiah. So much promise and yet so little to show. Why cant we guide these promising youngsters into star-dom at the senior levels so that they will conquer the world for us? Have a great weekend.
