SOME POSTS ON THE ISSUES OF CORONA IMPEACHMENT AND GMA - TopicsExpress

SOME POSTS ON THE ISSUES OF CORONA IMPEACHMENT AND GMA IMPRISONMENT Two major issues dominated the front pages of the newspapers and airwaves: the impending impeachment of Chief Justice Corona and the imprisonment of ex-president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. As later events unfolded, CJ Corona was removed from his post, while GMA has remained in jail. But the process was painstakingly long, winding, and tiring. Of course, mass media was very much involved in the process. My posts were mostly based on mass media reports and public utterances from the major players – Pnoy, GMA, Corona and those who did some starring roles. Going back to those posts allows us to catch a glimpse of the process. Moreover, we somehow recover from our bank memory the details, which we subconsciously set aside for various reasons. These efforts of recovery somehow firms up our convictions that have been shaped by the chain of events. In brief, it pays to review history, if only to learn the lessons from those past events. Please care to read… ON THE RISE OF DICTATORSHIP: “Constitutional crisis, creeping authoritarianism, dictatorship, and rule of law are among the most commonly abused phrases and words nowadays. They usually come from two groups of people - the GMA camp and Corona groups. While it may appear as coincidental that the two camps have been uttering the same buzzwords and phrases, the point is that the two camps are hellbent to scare the people out of their wits. They expect to win politically by scaring the people. I strongly doubt the viability and sustainability of this strategy. Moreover, they wish to obfuscate the real issues. By the way, the joint Arroyo-Corona camps have the same faces working and supporting them... They have joined forces... They utter the same things and threats... “ (December 16, 2011) FAST ACT: “They could not believe that the person they call Abnoy, or describe as autistic or abnormal, could pull a fast act on them. They way he delivered that say it straight to his face speech, where he lambasted CJ Corona in front of a big crowd and the frenetic impeachment could happen. Sill bewildered and dazed by the chain of events, the joint GMA-Corona camp and their supporters (they are few but one and the same after all) could hardly launch a viable and sustainable counteroffensive. The Supreme Court court holiday and demonstration of support, where a measly 500 attended at the Supreme Court compound, was a dismal failure. The cowardly Medusa Marquez could not even admit that he instigated the court holiday. Since Corona uttered strongly worded political statements, he is now trapped to engage PNoy in political tussles instead of purely legal battles. He wont win against PNoy, who has won overwhelming in the last elections. He has a mandate, while Corona is unelected - and unelectable. Now, Corona is being questioned if he has the sense of impartiality and objectivity to attend and participate in those cases involving GMA. In short, he is forced to inhibit. The state machinery is not yet working. Soon, Pnoy will unleash it to bring the coup de grace on the unholy alliance of GMA and Corona. “ (Dec. 16, 2011) “Now, who is abnormal? Who is autistic? These people will be eating their words, as PNoy pursues his reform agenda with earnest. Remember that PNoy carries two genes in his body. The Cojuangco gene is basically restrained and laid back. But the Ninoy gene is audacious to the point of being reckless at times. Audacity is the hidden trait of the President. But dont worry... He wont be a dictator unlike the claim of that defeated dog - Corona... “ (Dec. 16, 2011) ON CORONA’S BACKGROUND: “He is basically a bureaucrat, who rose to prominence mainly because of the support of those powers that be... In political parlance, nadikit lang... Corona was a bureaucrat used to signing papers... His experience as a jurist has been limited... His legal experience is not that wide and varied... Corona is so used to a life of comfort because of the support of his patrons... He has never experienced or refused to experience - actual dictatorship and the attendant abuse of power and consequent suppression of our freedom... He was busy completing his law degree, when Marcos declared martial law and imposed one man rule... He may have some awareness, but he did not know its quintessential meaning... this is why i was damned surprised he raised the issue of dictatorship…” (Dec. 16, 2011) SAVIOR OF THE COUNTRY. “What? He wanted to be savior of this country? This guy is nuts... I told myself this afternoon, while watching him over the TV.... This is not only the point... Because he did not experience martial law or dictatorship and because he was so used to a life of comfort, I strongly doubt if this man is made of stronger inner kernel... My own judgment is that he is being pushed so hard to fight because he is the remaining, or the last line of defense of the GMA-Corona group... The moment he falls, they will be all defeated and will be completely sidelined... My own judgment too is that corona will not fight all along the way... He knows what he is up to... Imagine fighting the entire state machinery, which is equally determined to prove his guilt? (Dec. 15, 2011) ON HIS THREAT TO FIGHT: “This man is a moral decrepit... A coward, who wont come out of his foxhole to fight... He is not used to fix his bayonet, much more engage in hand to hand combat... This is the first time that he is up into something... Lets see if he has the moral courage to face the struggle at least in the next two or three months... I foresee he will be another Merci, who after issuing those big and terrifying words that she would fight to end, simply wilted and resigned... Moral decrepits and political opportunists are now known for courage. (Dec. 15, 2011) “Big words do not make big ideas. Terrifying words do not necessarily terrify... What we saw this afternoon were the spasms of a dying headless chicken... A moral decrepit like Corona will be forcibly kicked out of power... His days are numbered...” (Dec. 14, 2011) THREATS OF ECONOMIC DOWNFALL: “All those talks of constitutional crisis, creeping authoritarianism, economic downfall, etc. are just loose talks. They exist in the polluted minds of political losers. After CJ Coronas removal from office, everything will go back to normal. The nation needs a catharsis. The imprisonment of GMA, removal of Corona from the Supreme Court, and the introduction of judicial reforms will provide the necessary catharsis. Those loose talks are being spread by the noisy supporters of GMA and Corona, who happen to be very few and are one and the same people. (December 13, 2011) FAKE IDENTITIES: In most cases, these pro-GMA people post fake identities and pictures and befriend every person at this social networking site. They claim they are from Davao, Cebu or whatever... But they are based here in Manila... They are hacks hired to spread pro-GMA propaganda and malign people, whom they think are against their agenda... And believe me, they are also pro-Corona... In most instances, these characters have assumed other identities. They often make it appear that conversations are taking place, when the unvarnished truth is those who exchanging messages are one and the same person... Also watch trheir language. They are mostly uncouth. They resort to namecalling and everything that is foul in a civil conversation. Kindly observe....(Dec. 13, 2011) BIGOTRY IN ACTION: Rabid supporters of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Renato Corona have been very busy in this social networking website, posting whatever items or opinions they have on current issues. They are not really that numerous. They are one and the same people. At one point, they would post pro-GMA messages. In the succeeding hour, they would become instant pro-Corona. They have the same kind of viciousness, narrowmindedness, and wickedness. They are mostly callous and obnoxious; they are never sweet nor gracious. Oftentimes, they reflect the different kind of psychology, largely of persecution and oppression. Like their masters, they are delusional and think they are undergoing some kind of persecution. Losers and lunatics think that way... I have stop welcoming these characters. Neither do I read their postings... Pathetic... Dung... (Dec. 13, 2011) JUDICIARY IN TRIAL: “Now, the situation has been reversed. It is the judiciary, led by Chief Justice Renato Corona, which is on public trial. This is to be expected. With the way the Corona has led the Supreme Court, Corona and company had it coming. Never has been the high court experience this kind of public ridicule except under Coronas leadership. Now, they will experience the worst kind of public sanction. What is happening is very important to bring back the peoples trust on the judiciary. Moreover, the principles of transparency, responsibility, and accountability, which have long been ignored by those bandits in robes, will have to be reinstituted... “(Dec. 12, 2011) ANTICORRUPTION PACT: “When CJ Corona did not attend the signing of an anticorruption pact, I posted the following: “This is not surprising from the defender of the corrupt and filthy rich... CJ Corona might turn into a statue of salt, if ever he attended the signing ceremony... He is most unfit to be a signatory to classic anti-corruption pact... “ (Dec. 11, 2011) MORAL CRISIS: “Lets say it straight to the faces to those allegedly honorable members of the Supreme Court. What happened yesterday confirmed what has long been felt before. The Supreme Court is having a moral crisis by siding with those who are long perceived as enemies of the Filipino people. The Supreme Court is having a severe crisis of confidence, as it continues to come out with decisions favorable to people, who have stolen the nations wealth and soul. It is a crisis of credibility that is so severe to the point that even ordinary citizens have lost whatever trust they have once reposed on this august body. Can the Supreme Court recover? Certainly, yes. But it would entail a lot of initiatives, which include the resignation of CJ Corona and his allies and the institution of transparency and accountability in that body.” (Dec. 6, 2011) CHURCH AS PEACE BROKER: “When. Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile proposed the Church as broker of peace between the Palace and the Supreme Court, I posted the following: “The biggest question is who in the Church can broker peace? Remember that the Church, particularly the majority Church, which is the Roman Catholic Church, faces a moral crisis because of the damning pieces of evidence that point to the corruption of its leaders, particularly the bishops... The clean hands doctrine applies to any honest to goodness peace brokering... Even the referee should come with clean hands.” (Dec. 5, 2011) SLAP ON CORONA’S FACE: “When PNoy slammed Corona in front of the people and the latter did not answer, I posted the following: “Several things: First, CJ Corona did not answer PNoys tirade because he was so shell-shocked. He opted to stay in his foxhole than engaged in a combat. Infantrymen believe this is cowardice. Second, he left the job of answering the PNoy to a lowly spokesman of questionable gender and disdainful character. This confirms that Midas Marquez is the spokesman of the CJ Corona and not the Supreme Court. Third, the judiciary delegates wanted to walk out of the Summit Conference, according to Marquez. Why they did not do it? It was obvious that they did not have the number. Most delegates would not join them and they would only become the laughing stock of the conference. And fourth, Corona was the object of the tirade. His avoidance to answer confirms his wimpy character.” (Dec. 5, 2011) ‘ABNOY’: “They call him Abnoy, tamad, spoiled brat and other disparaging tags. But remember he is the son of Ninoy... Ang anak ni Ninoy... In his body are the genes that make him an audacious man like his father. Dont underestimate the guy. He is capable of throwing caution to the wind and be his own man. In an eyeball to eyeball situation, this guy wont blink. Early in the campaign, I was telling friends that this guy could do anything under the sun. See it for yourself... Now, CJ Renato Corona knows what it takes to face the man. He has been shamed publicly and if Corona has some honor left in him, he should resign...“(Dec. 5, 2011) PAID HECKLERS: “All those people, who disagree with what PNoy did and said can always go and stage protest demonstration in support of Corona and GMA. They can go to Malacanang... I know they will never do it because they are damned afraid. They dont have moral courage... Just like GMA and Corona... They are mostly paid hecklers, who only do the talking in Facebook...” (Dec. 5, 2011) STRAIGHT ON THE FACE: “The biggest tragedy of CJ Renato Corona is being hit by the Chief Executive right straight to his face. Over the television, the unelected and unelectable Corona looked like a defanged tiger. Corona will live in history as a magistrate, who is extremely loyal to his boss, GMA. He is never his own man. He is never a man of great moral courage and strength of the spirit. He will live in history as a man of the intestinal fortitude, who, despite the criticisms and public ridicule, clings to his post because he has never known the meaning of moral courage.” (Dec. 5, 2011) OPLAN ON GMA: “So many oplans re GMA. Elena Horn spoke of Oplan Put the Little Girl to Sleep, which is more fiction than real. Somewhere among the anti-GMA forces came Oplan Patayin sa Sindak ang Pandak, which is more humor than genuine. I just received a text message today that Malacanang has launched Oplan KGB, or Keep Gloria Bewildered. The intention is to keep her amused, confused, and bewildered to counter the sense of entitlement she still possesses as a former president. Absolutely, no intention to kill her. It does not pay to assassinate political has-beens. They are absolutely worthless...” (Dec. 4, 2011) GMA IMBROGLIO: “When. GMA went to jail, I posted the following: “Ten things that I have learned from the GMA imbroglio: 1. Dont trust lawyers especially when they start talking about issues other than law; 2. Lawyers who keep on talking are only good in talking; 3. Talkative lawyers are paid handsomely than the reticent ones; 4. There is no such thing as subjudice rule and Miriam has shown the reason why; 5. Lawyers are not always right; 6. Lawyers are not programmed for crisis situation; 7. Lawyers can cause crisis. 8. Dont trust the Supreme Court since it is neither a court of law nor supreme; 9. The SC spokesman is the spokesman of the Chief Justice and not the Court; 10. Learn to laugh at all those antics...” (Nov. 29, 2011) DAMAGED COURT:” The Corona Court is a damaged court? Precisely.... It is not the repository of judicial wisdom. It has become a tool of oppression. The Supreme Court has to save itself. We should have a Save the Supreme Court Movement...” (Nov. 28, 2011) ANTICORRUPTION AGENDA: “On the proposed six-point anticorruption agenda: “Chief Justice Corona and those scalawags in robe should be the target of this anticorruption campaign. Without a credible judiciary, its impossible for this country to move forward... Democracy and development are two sides of the same coin. But the bedrock of a sustainable democracy and development is a credible judiciary. An anticorruption agenda is necessary to create a credible judiciary.” (Nov. 28, 2011) TITO SOTTO’S CALL FOR RESPECT FOR GMA: “This is the problem with some people sympathetic to GMA. They equate respect with special treatment... Respect and special treatment are two different things... Tito Sotto, despite his limited mind, should understand the difference between the two things... He is not talking to the East Bulaga crowd when he discusses the issue of respect for GMA...” (Nov. 27, 2011) DRIFT: “Have you observed the drift? Just last week, the GMA camp was insisting that the right to travel is absolute and that the Bill of Rights guarantees this right. Now, they seem to realize that GMA could not leave at all. They have changed their tune, saying that GMA is ready to face everything. Suddenly, their heroine has become a paragon of moral courage. Chief Justice Renato Corona had the temerity to lecture that what is happening to GMA now could happen to PNoy after his term of office. This is something speculative, if the CJ understand it.” (Nov. 25, 2011) IN A BIND: “Chief Justice Renato Corona is in a bind. During the oral arguments at the Supreme Court, Corona raised the issue of right to life to defend subtly her patroness, GMA. The government panel called his bluff, asking for a complete disclosure of her actual health condition. Now that it has been disclosed that her health condition is improving and that she is an outpatient, Coronas argument has been nipped in the bud. This is the problem with mediocre lawyers. Eventually, they will be exposed.” (Nov. 25, 2011) DYSMENORRHEA: “Almost daily, the lawyers of GMA come out with their updates of GMAs health situation. Instead of leaving this job to GMA doctors, these lawyers keep on mouthing medical issues they hardly understand. Frankly, they are putting GMA down the sinkhole. I wont be surprised if one day, a lawyer would come out with the diagnosis that GMA cant attend a court hearing because she is suffering from dysmenorrhea. The lawyers cum doctors are giving us entertainment of the worst kind. “(Nov. 24, 2011) DOWNFALL: “Who is to blame for GMAs precipitate downfall to ignominy? Is the big, fat man, who is notorious for his insatiable appetite for the material and temporal? It would appear that GMA has suffered the same fate as Ferdinand Marcos, whose own downfall was long perceived to have been caused by his powerful spouse. The fatso seemed to be around in every major government deals during her nine-year reign. Had she completely banished him from sight, the flow of history would have different from today. Pity this nation...” (Nov. 22, 2011) TRIBULATIONS: “What makes GMA pitiful is that her siblings are nowhere at the time of tribulation. Where are Boboy (Diosdado Jr.), Cielo, and Arthur? I am not surprised they arent beside her. The charges of plunder, electoral sabotage, and corruption are alien to the Macapagals name and fundamental values. The late ex-President Diosdado Sr. must be disturbed in the afterlife as her daughter faces those charges. Macapagal is akin to integrity. GMAs father is a national treasure, whose name is synonymous to incorruptibility. What a difference?” (Nov. 22, 2011) LEGAL ANALYSTS: “Suddenly, the nation has a plethora of legal analysts and observers, who give their five cent worth of observations and advice on the GMA travel issue. Even those who have long been mothballed have suddenly appeared, enjoying the media attention. Some have been retreaded - or recycled - to give their last gasp for glory. Their views are not actually sharp and valid. They tend to serve a particular side. This is a nation of bidas and nagbibidahan.” (Nov. 22, 2011) APOLOGISTS: “There are plenty of GMA apologists and propagandists in this site. Of course, they are here to distract people, to sow poison into our minds. We can best handle them by ignoring them. Let them earn their pay from their masters. Naghahanapbuhay lang naman ang mga iyan. But lets keep on ignoring them.” (Nov. 22, 2011) TRO ISSUE: “Judging from how Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona and SC spokesman Midas Marquez have handled the TRO issue, it is getting clear that the pair is part of a cabal of rabid pro-GMA people, who conspired to spirit out GMA and FG out of the country. It was conspiracy, which the Aquino administration knew and handled adeptly. The pair should be brought to justice. Corona should be exposed too...” (Nov. 18, 2011) NO PUBLIC OUTRAGE: “Some observations on the GMA imbroglio: 1. No perceptible public outrage or public sympathy for GMA and FG; 2. Except for their well-paid lawyers and bleeding heart bishops, who were recipients of the political largesse given by GMA, the Arroyos dont have public support; 3. The people look at them as potential fugitives from law; and 4. People say what is happening to them is their karma.” (Nov. 18, 2011) FORCES OF DARKNESS: “They have raised hell over Secretary De Limas continued refusal to let them fly out of the coop, but the people have ignored them. Only the lawyers continue to talk. There is no clamor to allow them to fly out the country. On the contrary, the people want them to go to jail... to rot in the play they deserve. The forces of darkness could not fool the people this time... “(Nov. 17, 2011) SHADY DEALS: “The forces of darkness, represented by the group of GMA, the very people who stole the peoples money through those shady deals and all acts of chicanery, will never prevail. Some paid hacks of the evil couple lurk in this website. Lets expose them ...” (Nov. 17, 2011) TONS OF MONEY: They have tons of money from those shady deals while in power. But they have to spend the rest of their lives talking to their lawyers because of the numerous lawsuits - or plunder charges - they face, and doctors because of those debilitating sickness they have. Theres simply no way to enjoy their loot. Lifes unfair? No, this is divine justice... (Nov. 16, 2011)
